Bakhtiyar Hajiyev. A lot of people may not know him, some know him in real life, the others know him on Internet. There are also some other people that hear wrong information about him on TV and actually believe it. I am from the third group of people, which means I met Bakhtiyar on Internet. This bright young man became a sacrifice for some people’s nasty games. Unfortunately, we live in a country where the freedom of speech and thought is taken away by trying to shush such young people as Bakhtiyar. Bakhtiyar was not a criminal or dangerous. He just loved his country and people, and wanted to see his nation’s future beautiful. Trying  to shush such youth is fear and weakness.

They just don’t understand that it’s impossible to take people’s faith away by putting this kind of youth in jail. They can’t crush people’s thoughts!

Today we live in a country where the freedom of thought is just on a piece of paper! We live in a country where the ones to tell the truth are put in jail! Democracy is only a word in this country. The truth is that we are living in a “demo” version of democracy. I would even say we are living in a test version of what democracy is.

This is the country where millions are spent to such a stupid thing as European integration. This is the country where people barely find something to eat, youth are put in jail and the ones that tell the truth are “removed”. This is Azerbaijan!

Bakhtiyar Hajiyev must be free! Not only him, but also all the prisoners of conscience must be at large. They are the ones that truly love this country!

As Bakhtiyar Hajiyev said, “Don’t regret my imprisonment. The government wants to destroy the youth, to make them lose heart… But we have to show them that we enjoy this!”

I believe and hope that the day Bakhtiyar was talking about in his respond to my letter is not that far away.

“With God’s willing we will talk someday away from the jail. Maybe in Shaki.”
